Another picture of the garage

I have been working on this project for nearly three years. There is nothing speedy about it, but, on the other hand, the time has allowed for careful planning and the gathering of resources to make it happen. I will say right out front that my brother Matt who is also our land partner was key to manifesting this new building. He helped with the design and was the lead builder. He organized the crew of very talented carpenters and together they put their expertise together and made the building materialize from a pile of supplies that arrived from the building materials yard. Of course no one can predict the future, but it is my hunch that this building will outlast any other structure on the property, such is the quality of the materials and craftsmanship. I have until next April to finish the details and get it signed off by the county and the Cal Fire crew. There should be no trouble in meeting this timeline.

  1. The garage is impressive, but what about photos of the grand baby??

  2. Love these photos of the new building! I'm sure it will serve you long and well. A solid, well thought out project, that benefited from Noel's careful planning and long term vision. We had lots of fun building it! matt

  3. Cute little garage! What will get garaged there? Your little tractor thing? Certainly not your grandson?

  4. Good question!! The plan is the upstairs (In the long run) will be a bedroom and bath.....overnight stays for myself and my bride...... Down stairs will be your typical garage scene. As I spend more time up there, I would really like to get more organized; leaving my shed near the cabin for Lindsay and Frank. Didn't Matt and crew do a terrific job??! The tractor has it own little place for now near the garage.

  5. Craftsmanship? Looks like you're missing some siding around that dormer.

  6. Very keen eye that Tomas.......you can tell he used to "work" for a living before he got into this coach surfing thing @ Kaiser........and actually you are correct. Matt ran out of Hardiboard and I ran out of money. I am told that if I put some 30 weight felt over the 1/2 inch plywood that things will be fine for a season or two. I need to finish out the garage door as well, and Lindsay is planning to paint. Should be ready for inspection by the time our Aloha family arrives for Labor Day!

    1. Yes, my friend, in days of yore Blue Rock Construction enjoyed a rather venerable reputation for its solid and speedy erections, some of which for all I know may yet be standing. As to that little crack about 'this couch surfing thing @ Kaiser'--I want you to know that the couches at Kaiser are not all they are cracked up to be, some of them are lumpy and stained, and hardly even worth the effort to lie down upon.

  7. My wife did the cleaning in the garage the other day and I was in shock nothing to find now. I forgave her this misunderstanding because she found steep coloured buckets for our garden. The shop is here http://apromera.com/ and you can sure that they are really cool.
